A Qualifying Life Event (QLE) is a change in your life circumstances that allows you to update your benefits outside of Open Enrollment.
Common Qualifying Life Events include getting married or divorced, having or adopting a child, losing health coverage such as a spouse losing their job, a dependent aging off your plan, moving to a new state in some cases, and becoming eligible for Medicare or Medicaid.
Most employers give you a 30-day window after a QLE to make benefit changes. It's important to contact your HR team as soon as possible. Missing the window usually means waiting until the next Open Enrollment.
If your employer uses Nayya, you may be able to go through the Nayya Choose survey after a QLE to get updated recommendations that reflect your new situation.
If your Qualifying Life Event already happened and Nayya's information about you hasn't caught up yet, for example your marital status still shows as single or a new dependent isn't listed, you can fix this directly in Nayya. If we already have information about you on file, you'll see a Welcome back screen when you sign in, showing sections like About You and Your Family marked Completed. Click Update information next to the section that needs a change. If we don't have this information yet, the survey will ask you for it directly, including a Your dependents step where you select who your benefits need to cover.
If a specific detail won't let you edit it, that's because it comes directly from your employer's benefits administrator (BenAdmin), and you'll need to update it there instead. Once it's updated on their end, Nayya will reflect the change on its next scheduled sync.
For more on adding, removing, or covering specific dependents on individual plans, see our guide on Adding or Removing Dependents in Nayya.
